A walk to help you be present in the here and now

A mindfulness walk in National Park De Alde Feanen is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with both your inner world and the nature around you. This unique nature reserve offers an oasis of peace and space, where you can step away from the busyness of everyday life and be fully present in the moment with the new Mindfulness Route.

Since May 2025, you can also experience It Fryske Gea’s walking route through the It Wikelsân subarea in a different way. With a special mindfulness book in hand, you can not only enjoy the beautiful nature, but also become more aware of the here and now.

Breathe in the calm: the importance of slowing down

Mindfulness is all about experiencing the here and now, and this walking route invites you to slow your breathing, open your senses and focus your full attention on the present moment. The sound of reed plumes gently rustling, the smell of wet earth and grass, the refreshing breeze on your skin – these are all sensory experiences that help quiet your thoughts and calm your mind.

The Mindfulness Route runs through It Wikelsân and has been open to the public since May 2025. You can borrow the accompanying book free of charge from the Information Point NP De Alde Feanen, Wiidswei 32 in Earnewâld, or from the Tourist Office, Piet Miedemaweg 9 in Earnewâld.
